The most successful team in the history of the Formula Renault UK

  Championship, Manor Competition, has a rich tradition of producing and

  nurturing some of the most outstanding national and international

  single-seater talent.

  Known as Manor Motorsport since the team’s inauguration in 1990 under

  the ownership of John Booth,the squad’s four-car Formula Renault UK

  operation was bought-out by team manager Tony Shaw, and wife Sarah,

  in October 2006 and re-named Manor Competition.

  While Booth continues to run the Formula 3 Euroseries challenge under

  the original Manor Motorsport banner from premises in Dinnington,

  Sheffield, the Manor Competition team now operates from

  workshops in New Ollerton, Nottinghamshire.

The purchase of the FRUK assets by Tony Shaw was a logical progression as Booth expanded the F3 side of Manor, however, both teams continue to share an incredibly strong link as they head through a new chapter of Manor’s famous story.

Over the years the drivers who have risen through the team's Formula Renault UK ranks to the pinnacle

of the sport include Le Mans 24 Hours winner Guy Smith, DTM racer Oliver Jarvis, former Formula One driver Antonio Pizzonia, 2007 F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen and 2008 F1 title winner Lewis Hamilton.

Manor Competition’s first full season of action under the ownership of

Tony and Sarah Shaw went well with multiple karting champion

Alexander Sims achieving his debut race victory during the main 2007

campaign and Kris Loane making his first visit to the podium in the

Winter Championship.

Prior to this, the team's maiden outing as Manor Competition came

during the 2006 Formula Renault UK winter series where Frenchman

Franck Mailleux achieved an unbroken run of four straight victories on

his way to a dominant title win. Sims (right) also took his first podium.

The 2008 season saw Manor come incredibly close to winning the main

Formula Renault UK crown with Sims - who went on to become McLaren

Autosport BRDC Award winner - and also the Winter Championship with the late Henry Surtees, son of former Formula One and World Motorcycling Champion John.

In 2009, Dean Smith brought the Formula Renault UK title back into the Manor fold after an incredibly consistent campaign in which he scored a total of 15 podiums from 18 race starts, including seven wins.
