MANOR COMPETITION ENJOYS SOLID QUALIFYING AT SNETTERTON

Manor Competition hopes to challenge for its second podium finish of the season at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk tomorrow, Sunday, 29th July, after enjoying a solid day of qualifying at the 1.95-mile track.

Alexander Sims, the Peterborough ace qualifying for the first time in his career at his ‘home’ venue, posted the fifth fastest time of 1m 05.054 seconds (108.01mph) in the round 13 session, just three 10ths of a second off pole, before claiming another third row grid start for round 14 with a time of 1m 05.399 seconds (107.44mph).

Kris Loane, meanwhile, produced an outstanding effort in round 13 qualifying to set the eighth fastest time with a superb lap of 1m 05.229 seconds (107.72mph), less than half a second shy of pole position and under two 10ths of a second adrift of Sims’ best.

The teenage star, from Kesh in Co. Fermanagh, was only able to manage the 16th quickest time in round 14 qualifying but having shown excellent pace in pre-event testing hopes are high Loane will achieve career best results tomorrow.

Welshman Alex Morgan showed good consistency in both sessions, lining up on the sixth row of the grid for both of Sunday’s races after setting the 12th fastest lap in each qualifying period, just six 10ths of a second off pole position each time. Again, season’s best results could well follow for him tomorrow.

Rounds 13 and 14 of the Formula Renault UK Championship will take place at 11.05 and 16.10 respectively tomorrow, Sunday, 29th July. Both outings will be screened exclusively live on digital satellite and cable subscription channel Setanta Sports 1.
